interpretations. I take the second Quintus as a cutter’s error for the gentive and
patronymic, thus Q. Aufidenus Seidektas, son of Quintus {Aufidenus}. Woodward
takes it to mean that we have here a Q. Aufidenus who is the son of Q. {Aufidenus}
Seidektas. Cartledge and Spawforth read the name as Q. Aufidenus Quintus, son of
Seidektas, affirm that he is Spartan, and date him to the early Severan period (AD
193-211).
